Beer barrel spiles are used to plug holes in the shive, and to allow controlled venting of excess carbon dioxide generated by the yeast in the beer during movement and transport.
Soft, open-grained spiles made of softwood or bamboo or notched hard wood let you vent, dispense and manage beer quality inside the container.
