Description
Beer barrel spiles are used to plug holes in the shive and to allow controlled venting of excess carbon dioxide generated by the yeast in the beer during movement and transport.
Hard spiles are much more durable and used for sealing the cask entirely while not working with it and used to seal the cask when outside service to improve the beer’s shelf life.
